Melissa Flaxman
Hi! I am Melissa Flaxman, founder of Future Makers.
It is my personal mission to create equal access to engaging and conscious education for the future of Las Vegas.
After pursuing an M.A. in Special Education and serving as an educator in our local school system for more than a decade, I began to envision more for the future of our children.
I am a mother, 4th generation Nevadan and determined that together we can make a difference for the future of ALL the children in our community.
James Lomax
James Lomax is the Founder and Director of the Life Skills Academy. The Life Skills Academy is an innovative micro academy opening in Henderson in May 2022. The Life Skills Academy is part of the Acton Academy network of micro schools.
Prior to making a pivot into education he had a distinguished career in military aviation and flight test engineering. In his military aviation career he amassed over 1400 hours flying in over six different types of military fighter and training aircraft. He also completed six aircraft carrier forward deployments.
In his civilian career he has been responsible for planning, execution, and reporting of flight tests that improved the effectiveness of US and Allied tactical aircraft. He oversaw annual test program budgets of up to 10 million dollars.
He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture from the United States Naval Academy and holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree.
He is most proud of being a husband and a father. In his free time he enjoys spending time with family and friends, learning new things, music, and helping people live a healthy lifestyle (by being a certified personal trainer and health coach).
James is very passionate about reimagining education so that the children of Southern Nevada can obtain the skills needed to be successful in the 21st Century.
Emily Grégoire
I’m an enthusiastic unschooling mother of 4 and Southern Nevada Microschool operator who is passionate about spreading the message that homeschooling does not need to be overwhelming.
I believe that even the busiest parents can easily keep their kids at grade level with 5-8 hours a week of “schoolwork.” Leaving the rest of the time for participation in micro-schools, community events, enjoying our beautiful parks, traveling, and making family memories.
I have many connections in the Microschool Revolution both large and small throughout the Nation. I’ve trained, studied with, and been mentored by some of the biggest names in our growing movement.
My hope is to see great teachers and entrepreneurs come together open their own profitable, flexible, and beneficial micro-schools for the children of Nevada who need them desperately.
